@jenna25 I submitted mine almost a month ago and with all three recommendation letters. It seems like October is the month when they start sending out notices.
  5. I'm currently in the accelerated program, so if there are any questions feel free to ask!

hey! i sent in my application last week for the accelerated program. if you don't mind me asking, what were your stats like?

I'm not sure if you were asking me specifically, but my overall GPA was a 3.6, and I had a 4.0 in the prereqs. I also didn't have any clinical experience.
  8. Do you know anyone who applied with a low 3.0 gpa and still got in? My gpa is a 3.0 and I submitted my application 2 weeks ago. The gpa requirement is a 2.8 for the program. I am very nervous.

Hi all! I am about to submit my application, just finalizing my personal statement! I have my 3 letters of rec submitted, however, a professor just got back to me offering to submit a fourth letter on my behalf.. Does anybody know if 3 letters is the max or minimum?

    Good luck to everyone!
  10. 3 letters of recommendation is the minimum. When I applied, I submitted four (certainly doesn't hurt, right?).

I don't know many other students' GPAs in my cohort, but I wouldn't count you out with a 3.0. It helps if you did well with the prereq classes. Make sure to have great rec letters, and a stellar personal statement. SBU definitely seems to take a more holistic approach in their admissions process compared to other schools.

Thank you for your help! One more question, what would you say makes a stellar personal statement?
I've had mine read my numerous people and got majority good feedback, but I'm still nervous it wont be what their looking for. (I discuss alot about a personal experience and how it motivated me to choose nursing).

I'd say just really stick to the point, remove any extraneous details or fluff. What makes you stand out of the pack? Why will you be an asset to the school? Let them hear your voice, not just "I like helping people" sort of thing. Also if you had any weaknesses (let's say a lower GPA) I'd give a quick explanation as to why.

Thankyou for all your help! I know its based on the applicant pool butI'm curious to know if you think I have a chance at being accepted based on my stats. I have a cum. overall gpa of 3.53 and a pre-req gpa of 3.7 .. I submitted 4 letters of recc. (2 professors and 2 healthcare professionals I work with) And I work as a nurses aide in the hospital. I'm concerned because I recieved a B in A&P1

Just submitted my application last night!
My grades are very up there and I believe I wrote a competitive and unique personal statement. I feel very confident.
Does anyone know how many people apply for the program and how many seats are offered?
Also, what type of community do students work with? Is it diverse racially, socioeconomically, etc?

    Nice to meet you Agnes!
    Did you finish your prereqs??
  5. Hey guys!

I'm applying to the accelerated AND the basic BSN programs. I just want to shoot for whichever I can get. I finish up the last of my prerequisites this Fall.
  6. Hyerim, I'm almost done with my prereqs. Sociology is the last class that I'm missing nd I'm taking it this fall.
  7. Hi JSBU, it's a pleasure to meet you. Have you started working on your essay?
  8. Hey,

I'm currently in the BBP program. Feel free to ask me any questions.

Whats up guys. I'm in the 2 year program, feel free to ask any questions.
  10. How are the times for the classes? I work 5am-11am at North Shore University Hospital and I'm wondering are the classes and clinicals flexible or is everything during the morning?
  11. Sep 23, '14 by HopefulSRNA1234
Classes aren't flexible. Everyone takes the same classes at the same time. They are typically from 9-5 and clinicals are from 7am to 7pm. If you can't make it, you can't be in the program
  12. It really depends on the semester. This semester clinicals are Monday 7-3. Some have clinicals on Saturday. If your job is flexible, it might work for you.

As people said above the classes are pretty much 4 days (including clinicals) typically from 9am to 5pm. Note: you do have a break in between, i dont want to sound like you have classes for 8 hours straight. Also, some classes like role development end early and do not run through the entire semester.
  14. Hi do you guys know what kind of classes Stony Brook will accept for their "Global Issues" requirement?
